Am here with a beginner’s
tutorial for you. I will be touching the introduction of Ms word 2013 little by little, hoping
that we will finish the necessaries in no
time. I promise not to bore you with some many details, so i will take them one after another.
So today, we will concentrate on
the Home menu (tab) and discover
some of its icons and how to use them. Our main area of concentration is on the
Font bar under Home menu. Check post image above
LET'S GET STARTED
1. Font:
The first icon we will discuss under the Home Tab (font bar) is the FONT or can still be called FONT CHARACTER.
The font / font charater (calibri body) is the a bar that contains different font style (something like computer hand writings) available for you to use in typing your documents. You will notice the calibri body wrote on it. That is the default font type for Ms word 2007, 2010 and 2013. Now to explore more fonts, all you need to do is to click the small arrow pointing down that close to calibri body. By doing this, you will see more default / installed fonts on your system for you to choose from.
Note: Before you start any thing, make sure you highlight the text/word/sentence you want to work on by left clicking on your mouse, holding it down then drag over the word. Check the picture below.. Make sure you get that grey colour over the word. If yours is Ms word 2007, it should be a blue colour highlight.
Now after highlighting, click the small arrow pointing downwards to explore more fonts. Choose Jokerman from the list of fonts displaying on your screen. Check picture below
Did you get same? If yes, then you got it right! Lets rush over the rest since you now get the concept.
2. Font Size: After the font (calibri body), you will notice the next icon close to it with the 11 sign; it's called font size. As the name sounds, you should know what it does.
Highlight your text then click the small area pointing down close to it by the right to explore more font sizes. Now, choose font 72 and click on your document body. You will notice that, the text you highlighted and worked on must now be very big. That's all for that. Lets head to another
3. The Bold, Italics, Underline and Strike through
The next tools we will work on are very necessary. The Bold, noted with a B, the Italics note with I, the Underline noted with U, and the strike through noted with an icon of abc with a line accross it.
How to do this
- Highlight the text / word / sentence you want to bold, italics, underline or strike through.
- Then click any of the icon under depending on what you want to do. For example, if you want to bold a text, after highlight the text, you click the bold B icon and the text will be boded immediately. Same goes to others.
4. Subscript and Superscript
Now, lets look at the last two tools i will discuss in this article; its the subscript and superscript icons.
Sub-script as the name sounds means something below right? While superscript as the name sounds, means some thing above.
The X sign having number 2 below is subscript while the X sign having two above is called the superscript. After highlighting a particular part of your text and you click on the subscript, it will take that word, letter or number to the base of the word before it if any. Check example below
Same thing applies to superscript. It will take it to the top of the word like "the power of"[Mathematics terms].
So, i think that should be all for today before i bore you with lengthy articles. Any thing you don't understand, just comment about it and i will response as soon as possible. Catch you later
